gate safety seminar – are you up-to-date with your gate safety?
With 90 per cent of the gates in the UK estimated to be unsafe and require an upgrade, Interphone has teamed up with charity Gate Safe to run a number of seminars to raise awareness of the issue and provide guidance. The security systems and building technology integrator will host two half-day events on Thursday 8th September at its headquarters in Harrow, North West London.
The seminar titled Are you up-to-date with your Gate Safety? will include a number of presentations offering insight into the safety risks that exist, as well as advice on how to make sure gates are installed and maintained correctly. The headline guest speaker will be CEO and Founder Richard Jackson of Gate Safe, the charity set-up to raise awareness of safety issues associated with powered gates and improve the understanding of existing legislation and standards.
Interphone and Gate Safe will also be joined by Genie CCTV Ltd, a leading provider automatic number plate recognition systems. They will be discussing how their technology can control and operate electronic barriers and gates, providing real-time database checks, alarms triggers and notifications all adding extra layers of security to a site.
“Since 2006 there have been 10 incidents where people have been seriously injured or tragically killed by unsafe gates and every one could have been prevented with the application of the correct safety protocol,” explains Julian Synett, Managing Director. “When you consider you could receive up to a £60,000 fine for an unsafe gate, be at risk of civil claims, and even face prosecution for corporate manslaughter, it is essential that gates are installed and maintained in a safe and responsible manner.”
